Props: radio.

Radio - is one of our key props, because it's meant to be the source of diegetic sound in our opening sequence.

But what kind of radio do we need? A modern one, to connote the couple is middle class? Or an old one, to complement the style of the kitchen?

Lets take a look at different radios first of all:

1. AM and AF radios. I love the way it looks quite old-fashioned, it would fit very much in the traditional or cottage kitchen styles.

2. Shortwave Radio. Looks relatively small and thin, so wouldn't drag away the attention of the audience from the key parts of our opening sequence - like bruises on the female's hands.

3. Satellite Radio. This type of radio reminds me of some gangster films of early 90th, so I'm afraid if we use it in our thriller we might create a wrong impact on the audience. It's also too big for a kitchen radio, in my view.

4. Ham Radio. This type of radios seems to be too professional, I doubt you would ever find it in somebody's kitchen.

5. Walkie-Talkie. Such devices are not used for producing music, so we wouldn't use them.

As you can see there are some types or radios you just can't use in the narrative like ours, because you will destroy the reality of the world you've created.
In our case best choices would be either AM/AF or Shortwave radios.
Getting them is relatively easy - there is a variety to choose from on Amazon and other online shopping platforms.

e.g Amazon has 250,194 different radios to choose, so we'll probably just order one of them in white or beige colour (colour should be neutral not to attract attention).

e.g 17.99 pounds.

e.g 29.99 pounds.
